National Public Lands Day: 4th Grade Outdoor Classroom
The Tucson Field Office of the Bureau of Land Management along with the Empire Ranch Foundation will be hosting the fourth annual 4th Grade Outdoor Classroom at the Empire Ranch Headquarters with a local 4th grade class from southern Arizona.
The outdoor classroom provides 4th graders an opportunity to learn about the Las Cienegas National Conservation Area from field office staff and the history of the Empire Ranch from volunteers of the Empire Ranch Foundation. The outdoor classroom takes place along stations surrounding the Empire Ranch Headquarters. An estimated 180 participants consisting of students, teachers, and chaperones have attended this event.
The BLM manages about 245 million acres of public land located primarily in 12 western states, including Alaska, on behalf of the American people. The BLM also administers 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estate throughout the nation. Our mission is to sustain the health, diversity, and productivity of America’s public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations.
